So today was a beautiful day. Which was also perfect because I like to try and save one of our super fun activities for Friday's if I can. Which means today is THE day for the Chalk Paint we mixed up and froze earlier in the week.
I have updated Monday's post (Week #2: Monday) with one of the beautiful pic's showing the outcome.
Toddler -
Lesson: Numbers & Counting
Theme: COLOR PLAY
Language / Recognizing (listening & responding)
Color & Number (Flash Cards)
Gross Motor (coordination, big movements)
Kool-Aid mixing (they will love to watch how the color mixes as they do this w/a spatula) - This was perfect after coming in from playing outside with the chalk paint! We first laid out the Kool-Aid packets, discussed the colors, then they chose which one they wanted.
Arts & Crafts
Chalk Painting - Don't forget to bring a towel & white vinegar. It helps to play in a smaller area so the colors mix together. For a refresher on how to make this, see bottom of this post.
NOTE - It also helps to hose off or throw some water over the pavement before starting.
Music & Reading (to help give the mind a study break)
Free Dance
Book about colors
PreK -
Lesson: Writing Skills & Inverse Lower Case Letters
Theme: GERMS
(1st half of week focuses on our hands, 2nd half on our teeth)
Language Arts & Writing
Writing our own story about germs
Tooth name scrabble game - For Caleigh, it helped her to write her name first at the bottom of the page.
Fine Motor
Tracing inverse letters (tracing workbook)
Science/Experiments & Math
Check the results of your Bread experiment - It should be noted that our bread experiment was not ready to view today. So we will wait a few more days to see how things progress.

Refresher on how we made the Paint Chalk:
Prepare this early in the week and freeze for a sunny day. To make = 1/4cup baking soda, 1/4cup cornstarch, 1/2 cup water, dab of liquid watercolor paint or food coloring (measurements do not have to be exact), mix well, poor into ice cube trays. Once frozen and ready to use (on a nice day), watch as they melt while drawing on the pavement. When they seem to be about done playing with it, squirt/spray with white vinegar for added fun and watch it bubble. The colors mixing together are really quite beautiful!
NOTE: You gain a greater effect by keeping the colors closer together.
Not to worry, the liquid watercolor or food coloring WILL wash off of them. (You may want to bring a towel out with you.)
