It's a beautiful day out. So we took this opportunity to do some learning outside and reward ourselves with a special educational treat once we came back in.

Toddler -

Lesson: ABC's

Theme: Animals (where they live / sounds they make)

Language / Recognizing (listening & responding)

  • ABC's (flash cards) - start w/ A-G, recite that part of the song as you point to the letters, then ask, "touch A, touch G…"

Gross Motor (coordination, big movements)

  • Build a Zoo - Do this using toys/stuffed animals from around the house

Fine Motor (small movements typically w/hands)

  • Fishing for ABC's and/or Animals - The perfect time for some outdoor play. We did this with their water table. But you could also use a large plastic container filled with water. Throw the ABC or animals in, and ask them to show you or bring you certain ones.

  • ABC Cookies - that's right, we are forming the dough into the ABC's! (Of course this is something Caedyn's older sister helped him with while he said the letters)

Music & Reading (to help give the mind a study break)

  • Animal sounds book

  • Sing & dance to the ABC's

PreK -

Lesson: Word Play + Alphabet Sorting

Theme: Honesty & Friendship

Language Arts & Writing

  • Matching pictures to beginning letter (worksheet)

Fine Motor

  • ABC Cookies

Music & Reading (to help give the mind a study break)

  • Friendship book (The New Friend, by Holly Hobbie)

Creative Thinking

  • Honesty Dice game

Enjoying Our Time Together - These lessons were built around us being more involved in our child’s learning, enjoying the extra bit of time we have with each other, and remembering that each day does have meaning. This is all meant to be educational and LOTS of fun!

Each week we are All-Stuck-Home, we'll have Lesson Plans and Themes for that week.
