Week #3: Tuesday - Honesty & Friendship, Word Play & Animals

Time to play! We are going to be using a lot of toys from around the house for our little ones and creating some fun visuals.

Start going through their books...

For our Tots: Pull out all the ABC and Animal related ones (even better if they make sounds).

For our PreK kids: See which ones might be good for helping outline the importance of being honest.

Toddler -

Lesson: ABC's

Theme: Animals (where they live / sounds they make)

Language / Recognizing (listening & responding)

  • Air, Land, & Water - Pull out a large sheet of paper and divide it in these three parts. Then, let's have them sort small toy animals by the basics of where they live. We discovered we didn't have as many flying toy animals as we thought. So Caleigh was creative and improvised by drawing some birds for Caedyn :)

  • ABC Toys or ABC's Magnets - If using magnets, you can do this on the fridge or pull out a baking sheet for a little something different. We chose to play with toys.

Gross Motor (coordination, big movements)

  • Animal homes (puzzle matching) - You can also use toys

Fine Motor (small movements typically w/hands)

  • ABC block building

Music & Reading (to help give the mind a study break)

  • Sing & dance to the ABC's

  • Alphabet book

PreK -

Lesson: Word Play + Alphabet Sorting

Theme: Honesty & Friendship

Language Arts & Writing

  • Compound word picture fun - Caleigh LOVED these!

Fine Motor

  • Write the Missing Letter (worksheet)

Music & Reading (to help give the mind a study break)

  • Sing & dance to the ABC's

  • Honesty book (book: The Truth, Bernstein Bears)

Creative Thinking

  • Truth or Fib game - Place a barrier on the floor you can step over -> one side is for Truth -> while the other is for fibs. Have each person say something, and then decide which side of the barrier you should all stand . Our kids didn't want to stop playing this one.
